Flight Risk
Flight Risk was hand-built in the world-renowned Ta-Shing yard in the 1990s and was extensively rebuilt and refit in New England in 2023/2024. She has circumnavigated the globe and has won many races during her colorful history. She is overbuilt and heavy by today's standards, but she is still considered fast and powerful. Her comfort and safety factors trump nearly every new production boat available in the past 15 years.
2023/2024 Refit
Flight Risk was comprehensively rebuilt and refit by experienced shipwrights in 2023 and 2024. She was upgraded with the latest-available equipment. This included the installation of systems typically only found aboard much larger superyachts. For instance, for our central air conditioning system, we partnered with Termodinamica of Italy to custom design a system which has titanium condensers, a variable speed compressor, and uses inverter technology for quiet and efficient climate control of the entire vessel. It runs silently the ship's battery power, a welcome departure from most boats which require a noisy generator to operate air conditioning. We take comfort aboard as seriously as we do safety.
Equipment
Ammenities aboard, to name a few, include diesel-fed hydronic heating with on-demand hot water for the 2 showers (one with body jets and a waterfall feature), washer & dryer, 7 electric winches and furlers for push-button handling of the laminated North 3Di sails, 50kw of Victron Lithium batteries, chef-grade induction cooking, dual desalination plants, and state-of-the-art navigation and electronics suite. There is a whole-boat sound system, OLED 8K television, global satellite high-speed telecommunications, and even a Yamaha Clavinova upright piano in the saloon. Few other sailing yachts of this size match her level of equipment and capabilities.
